Two-step verification and recovery codes
Two-step verification keeps your account safe even if someone learns your password or gets into your email. With it on, signing in also asks for a 6-digit code.
- Turn it on in Settings › Two-step verification.
- Choose texts to a UK mobile, or an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password if you don't have a UK mobile or would rather not use one.
- When you turn it on we show 10 recovery codes once. Write them down or keep them in a password manager: each one signs you in once if you lose your phone.
- While it's on, signing in with a texted code alone doesn't work, because your phone is the second step.
Turning it off needs a code too, and for your safety payouts pause for 48 hours afterwards.
Lost your phone and your recovery codes? Contact us. Our team will check it's really you, for example with a photo ID that matches your account and details of a recent order, before turning it off. We'll email you when we do.
